Tasting Notes
Pol Roger 2006 displays a luminous golden colour and opens up with classically Pol notes of biscuit and toasted almonds. The richness of this season displays itself in a textured, very delicious way as flavours of yellow plum and peach fan out across the palate, held aloft by a fine but lightly crunchy bead. Brioche notes and more delicate suggestions of almond blossom and fine rock salt play out on the long and layered finish. One need have very little reservation about opening a bottle of this very moreish champagne now, while the patient can happily put a case or two away to allow more mature notes to emerge.
