Tasting Notes
2015 was the last vintage the Paillard’s vinified without any wood whatsoever – the end of the old era in some regards. Hailing from the warmest driest vintage on record, harvest began in mid-september and resulted in rich, spiced, concentrated wines such as this one. For all that, there’s typical Paillard focus to the red fruit here. Maillerets is an excellent Bouzy vineyard, where pure chalk likes just 50cms below the clay topsoil. The vines were planted in 1970 and today act as one of the mother blocks for the Paillards’ selections massales.
