Tasting Notes
Here is vintage Champagne of enormous character that will appeal to those who enjoy a little age on their fizz and shy away from more austere examples. It is a predominantly Chardonnay blend of 1er and Grand Cru fruit, a big chunk of which comes from Vertus, vinified entirely in steel having gone through full malolactic fermentation. It smells like crème pâtissier, honey, brioche and almonds, with a tiny snip of lemon zest and a puff of chalk to nimbly counter the richness. The palate is remarkably fine, with a gentle bead, surprising freshness and an overall sense of easy balance; notes of citrus pulp, chalk and fresh bread spread across the palate.
