Tasting Notes
A great Grandes Places, a vineyard that seems tailor-made for this vintage. The vineyard’s complexity comes shining through in this 2014, whilst the open fruitiness of the vintage softens this cuvées typical austerity in youth. Elegant but gripping and intense. Brilliant, haunting flavours of cool, crunchy, red berry fruit with notes of cherry, damson, herb and salt. Bright, focused and energetic but with a great deal of charm, too. Grandes Places is a fabulous, single vineyard in the Verenay commune planted with 75-year-old ‘Serrine’ vines, which is the traditional Syrah of Ampuis. The wine is aged for 24 months in 30% new oak and is bottled without filtration.
