Golden, aromatic and layered, living up to its Juste Rose moniker in appearance, but very much influenced by Pinot in both aromatics and taste. The house tends to serve this in Burgundy glasses and it makes perfect sense as broad yet refined notes of red fruits, rose and Szechuan peppercorn entirely fill a large glass. On the palate there’s the sleekest of textures and plenty of fine chalk notes, a touch of tannic grip and exceptionally fine mousse. Perfumed, long and complex – a brilliant match for Pigeon, figs, or duck.

Notes

The 2007 Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé is creamy, ample and also light on its feet. Seemingly light in its first impression, the 2007 opens up beautifully on the mid-palate and finish, where it shows terrific density as well as breadth. Sweet dried cherry, crushed flowers, mint and spice linger on the racy, nuanced finish. I would prefer to drink the 2007 over the next decade or so. The blend is 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, with a drop of saignée Pinot. Disgorged: November, 2018.
