Tasting Notes
Harvested later than Chateau Valade, Grande Maye exhibits many of the same qualities as its grander St Emilion stable-mate. The bouquet is packed with little black berries, notes of griotte and spice. On the palate there is a continuation of the cool dark fruit theme: dark hedgerow fruit, plum, touches of mocha and sweet spice. The tannins are a little less refined than that of Valade, but are ripe and grippy nonetheless. Grande Maye 2010 offers lots of wine for the money; expect this to drink well after five years and last ten.
