Tasting Notes
Voluptuous, enveloping and ample but without being over the top. Classy and profound, this offers a myriad of bold, dark hedgerow and forest fruit flavours with an added savoury dimension of undergrowth, cinnamon and cooling minerals. Big and very beautiful. This is the same wine as the Vecchie Vigne only since the 2009 vintage it is now released as a Riserva, a change purely in name only. From a single parcel of old vines within Brunate planted in 1942, produced in the same way as the other Cru wines – aged for 24 months in 25% new oak barrels – but kept an extra two years in bottle. Only 800 bottles were made.
